Breeding

Breeding Mechanics

Note that t5 moves are the most rare and also the most specialized to each element type. These will also be more rare to get from breeding in pets that aren't 100% of the corresponding element.

For example, if I breed a genesis water pet with a genesis earth pet, the offspring will be 50% water and 50% earth. That pet will not have as high a probability of inheriting a t5 earth move from parents as a 100% earth pet that was bred from two earth parents.

Part of what will make the deitys so strong is that they immediately have t5 moves from multiple elements. It seems like this will be extremely difficult to achieve through this breeding system.

Part of what will make genesis pets so valuable is their elemental purity. They will make the perfect breeders because the outcomes will be well controlled. Also they will be the only pets that can breed an infinite number of times.

Genesis pets will be given higher probabilities of passing on rare moves compared to non-genesis pets. Also, any future moves introduced to the game will be made available to genesis pets and allowed to propagate through them.

There will also be ways to teach your pets better moves down the line. Basically, the team wants to continue rewarding owners of genesis pets as the ecosystem evolves. So again I emphasize: the genesis pets shouldn't be considered 'not rare' if they don't have the best traits. That said, pets with high numbers of T5 moves will be valuable breeders as they will increase odds of making powerful, hybrid-elemental pets.

Pet and move liquidity

One way to create move liquidity is also a burning mechanism: you can "pixelate" pets to make a consumable item that will allow you to teach the move to another pet. There will be some RNG in this where burning more pets increases your ability to get the move you want.

One less-valuable version of this will be a "TM-like" item that can teach a pet a move, but that move will not be added to the pet's genetics and it cannot be passed on. On the other hand, the "GM-like" version will get incorporated into the pets genetics for breeding.

This is an important use-case for pets. If pets become too cheap and saturate the market, we will see more use of this burning mechanism.

Breeding Seasons

It will cost $PIXL in order to breed pets. There will be an increased cost for each time a pet has been bred and cooldown times for breedings will also increase. In order to help the game scale effectively as new users get onboarded, the game developers have hinted at "Breeding Seasons." This will involve discounted breeding and perhaps shortened cooldown times. This gives the developers another lever to use when they need to encourage more breeding so that new players can start playing without exorbitant costs to buy a pet.
